Hello everyone, welcome to this small blog where we will take a little tour of what are some tourist places in the Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic is a country with a great diversity of tourist attractions that offer its visitors unforgettable experiences. From paradisiacal beaches, green mountains, colonial cities, culture and history to adventure and ecotourism, there are options for all tastes and budgets. In this article, we present some of the most popular and recommended tourist areas of this beautiful Caribbean destination.
Punta Cana: It is the most famous and visited area of the Dominican Republic, located on the eastern tip of the island. It has more than 50 kilometers of white sand beaches and turquoise water, surrounded by palm trees and luxury resorts. Here you can enjoy the sun, the sea, golf, water sports, nightlife and gastronomy. You can also visit places such as the National Park of the East, Saona Island, the Blue Hole and the Manatee Park.
Santo Domingo: It is the capital and the oldest city of the American continent, founded in 1496 by Bartholomew Columbus. It is the cultural, political and economic center of the country, with a wide range of museums, monuments, theatres, galleries, restaurants and bars. Its main attraction is the Colonial Zone, where you can find historic buildings such as the First Cathedral of America, the Alcázar de Colón, the Museum of the Royal Houses and the Convent of the Dominicans
Puerto Plata: It is a province located on the north coast of the country, known as the Amber Coast for its deposits of this fossil resin. It has spectacular beaches such as Cabarete, Sosua, Playa Dorada and Cofresí, ideal for surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing and diving. It also offers other attractions such as the Puerto Plata Cable Car, which climbs the Isabel de Torres Peak; Ocean World Adventure Park, a water park with dolphins, sea lions and sharks; and Fort San Felipe and Fort San Felipe.
Samaná: It is a peninsula located in the northeast of the country, famous for being the scene of the sighting of humpback whales that arrive every year between January and March to mate and give birth. In addition to this natural spectacle, Samaná offers pristine beaches such as Las Terrenas, Las Galeras and Playa Rincón; impressive waterfalls such as El Salto del Limón and El Salto de Lulú; and national parks such as Los Haitises, where you can see caves with indigenous pictographs and lush vegetation.
